Jason Schwartz, M.D., Ph.D., serves as a junior faculty member in the Hematology Department at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In addition to his patient care responsibilities, Schwartz is currently working in the research lab of Jeffery Klco, M.D., Ph.D., in the Pathology Department. Schwartz’ research focuses on pediatric myelodysplastic syndromes where he uses next generation sequencing to describe the genomic landscape of these diseases and to understand their clonal evolution and pathogenesis.

Dr. Schwartz has recently completed the 2017-2018 Physician Scientist Training Program at St. Jude, which is awarded each year to subspecialty physician fellows who have excelled in basic, translational or clinical research and who have clear potential to become independently funded physician scientists.

Schwartz graduated from the M.D. and Ph.D. programs at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He continued his medical training with a Pediatrics Residency at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt before he arrived at St. Jude in 2014. For his work in medical school, Schwartz was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, given to distinguished students chosen for their high academic standing, leadership amongst their peers and their commitment to serve their school and community.
